Codes of Conduct: The Art of Correct Behavior in a Working EnvironmentMental training cannot take place of the codes of conduct. The scope of education, strictly speaking, is in the mind, while the scope of good conduct in the will. The sphere of education is the truth, while the object of the codes of conduct is the harmony. It is for this reason that most corporations are creating codes of conduct to establish an official set of rules that will define the appropriate behavior of every employee or member in an organization. Codes of conduct generally refer to the gaping exposé of the way a business or an institution runs. These codes of conduct primarily supply the employee some evident principles for ethical demeanor. Codes of conduct is also considered as a tool to promote the debate on "ethics" and to develop how the members of the organization deal with the problems concerning unfairness or injustices that are experienced by employees in their daily tasks or jobs. The point here is that codes of conduct were created in order to supplement pertinent rules, guiding principles, and standards. It does not mean to replace those guiding principles, regulations, or standards. Good examples of codes of conduct are those that are being used by many businesses that entail their employees to always do the right thing. For this reason, one can surmise that human life does not imply merely physical survival. It is a vocation towards the refinement of the spirit. The demands of daily life include and derive meaning from the cultivation of those traits that truly reflect man's innate dignity. Therefore, the implementation and construction of codes of conduct are also considered as an art. It is the breath of the company's life, pulsating with the desire for growth and development. It is a master plan indicating where employees must go and what they ought to do in order to live well. In a sense, every employee or worker is an artist, creating something of beauty out of his self. Codes of conduct are rational foundation of any attempt at implementing the right thing while inside the premises of the company. The creation of codes of conduct goes deeper into the reasons why employees must choose certain values and why they have to act in a certain way. |
