The Relevance of Employee Conduct

Man does not act in a vacuum. He is an organism responding and reacting to stimulus. His total make-up is the sum of all experiences. His personal background, education, social upbringing, political persuasion, religion, and personal aims to contribute largely to his development and behavioral preferences. For this reason, most corporations try to employ people who can comply with their code of conduct. This goes to show that most corporations value employee conduct than anything else. This is because the employee conduct will absolutely determine the way the individual will be able to perform his or her responsibilities.

Employee conduct establishes the structure of demeanors that are considered intolerable and offensive in the office. In the code of conduct, a guideline is created in achieving the purpose of a company that aims for harmony. It is, however, wrong to attempt at a good purpose by dubious or evil means. For instance, an employee may not fake his documents in order to be promoted to a job; the public official may not accept bribe in order to finance health center, and an impoverished father, who is just working in a factory, should not steal in order to feed his family. The employees conduct either directs the employee to perform certain activities as good and necessary, or, to commit certain acts as evil. The objective or purpose of establishing an employee conduct is the attainment of the common good.

The End Does Not Justify the Means
Employee conduct is extremely important in establishing a set of rules that will determine the appropriation of conduct suitable for a pleasant working atmosphere in the company. The employee conduct will be the best basis in determining whether a certain action of an employee is punishable or not.

There are many examples of violations and infringements of the rules of conduct that may end in a remedial discourse or feat. For instance, an employee is not deemed as ethically upright by simply falsifying his or her timekeeping records just because he or she had been absent for three days to attend to a sick family member.

Moreover, most of the employee conduct’s guidelines are established and made clear right after the company has employed them. Hence, it is expected that the employee will immediately adhere to these ethical standards of employee conduct in order to avoid any dubious act.

The conduct of every employee is known as ordinance of reason because they are rational deliberations intended to guide the employee towards what is good for them and for the company as well as the other employees. Indeed, an employee code of conduct is an ultimate tool in order to achieve diplomatic relationships within the corporation.

Employee conduct is comparable to the signs in the street, which guide the employer towards his or her destination. Without the employee code of conduct, the employee will not find his ultimate purpose in his or her work.
